Responding to a
deeply felt call to serve, board members of WVIS are men and
women committed to the vision, mission and ministry, who are
happy to assume responsibility for its managerial and
financial future. Their unique and individual gifts develop
the outreach of WVIS.
OFFICERS
Margaret
Llamas, President
Margaret Brooks Llamas is a business consultant with
extensive senior human resource management experience and
achievements in a global corporate environment. Her
consulting practice focuses on four areas: strengthening
leadership teams, developing leadership pipelines, aligning
organizational values and individual/team performance, and
developing business-responsive HR strategy and practices. A
graduate of WVIS’ Spiritual Direction Associates Program,
Margaret also holds an MBA from the London Business School.
Diane Shoaf, Secretary
Diane Shoaf, a Presbyterian minister, a graduate of
the WVIS Associates program, facilitates the practicum year
in a spiritual companion certificate program, visits with
homebound older adults, and administers a loss and healing
center. She is a student in the Ph.D. in Practical Theology
program at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida.

Sr.
Carole Riley CDP, Ph.D, LPC, AAPC-Fellow
Sister Carole Riley is a member of the Sisters of
Divine Providence community and Executive Director of the
West Virginia Institute of Spirituality where she
participates in spiritual training programs in Charleston,
WV. Formerly professor and Executive Director of the
Institute of Spirituality, she is currently professor at
Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where she was recently
honored as distinguished Alumni. Sr. Carole recently
lectured in Australia and Papua, New Guinea, has addressed
both national and international audiences, and is in demand
as a lecturer and retreat director.
Chuck Hamsher
Chuck Hamsher
is a government relations specialist based in Charleston.
Originally from Huntington, he is a Marshall University
graduate and has over thirty years experience working in
political and issue campaigns. Coming to Charleston in 1983,
Chuck has worked with many community-based organizations and
coalitions on statewide legislative campaigns including West
Virginia Citizen Action Group, Coalition for the Homeless,
West Virginia Children’s Coalition, American Heart
Association, American Lung Association, Coalition for a
Tobacco-Free West Virginia, Alzheimer’s Association and the
West Virginia Public Health Association. Chuck and his wife,
Connie, are avid collectors of mid-20th Century modern art
and design and are owners of The Purple Moon, West
Virginia’s only mid-century design gallery.
Bob McAteer
He is a
long-time board member and past President of WVIS.
Retired from the IT Department of Columbia Gas
Transmissions, he has continued interest with computers and
photography.
Carmen Mendez
